CCSP

In the context of Profit Sharing, there is a critical point of reference, known as the Capacity Constraint Satuation Point (CCSP). This CCSP is essentially a predefined boundary, marking the AUM threshold.

As a trading strategy is executed, it generates an Excess Gain. However, once the AUM crosses the CCSP, this Excess Gain ceases to maintain a proportionate relationship with the AUM. It becomes unable to increase in tandem with an increase in the AUM.

Beyond this juncture, it’s assumed that the measure of the Excess Gain must be computed not in relation to the AUM, but as absolute, fixed dollar amounts. This transition represents a critical change in the calculation and understanding of performance in the context of Profit Sharing.

Ladies and gentlemen, fasten your seatbelts because we’re about to dive headfirst into the tumultuous world of quantitative trading! Allow me to introduce you to the star of the show - the ‘Capacity Constraint Saturation Point’, or CCSP. Now, I know this might sound like the name of a secret NASA spacecraft, but I assure you, it’s something even more thrilling.

The CCSP, dear friends, is that magical moment when a trading strategy says, “Stop! No more!” Just like a marathon runner hitting ‘the wall,’ or a balloon ready to burst, each trading strategy has a point where enough is enough. You can try to force more capital into the strategy (just like you might attempt to stuff one more marshmallow into your mouth during a marshmallow eating contest), but at some point, the returns start to diminish. That’s right, even money has its limits!

In a little more academic-sounding language (so you can impress your friends at your next cocktail party), the CCSP refers to the maximum level of AUM that a trading strategy can handle before its performance starts to deteriorate. This point is usually reached when market impact, transaction costs, and slippage start eating into the strategy’s returns.

So there you have it, folks. The CCSP, in all its glory. It’s not just a confusing acronym, but a reality check for all those starry-eyed traders out there. Because, as we all know, you can’t just keep stuffing marshmallows into your mouth indefinitely. At some point, you’re going to have to start chewing!
