Recently, the Big Black GPU workstation has entered the BIOS screen on its own at least twice. During the last occurrence 2025-01-31 when I couldn’t access it normally, the computer automatically entered BIOS but couldn’t reach the Linux Ubuntu UE interface. While in BIOS, it couldn’t detect any hard drives or boot devices.
I contacted the computer seller for assistance, and they suggested trying a BIOS upgrade as a potential solution.
Interestingly, the seller also suggested a temporary fix: shutting down the computer, unplugging all power cables and any potentially electrical connections for five minutes, then restarting. This method actually worked, but to prevent future unexpected BIOS entries, the seller suggested BIOS update.
The YouTube tutorial video below demonstrating how to upgrade the BIOS, which is specifically for our exact motherboard model. I verified this by using Linux commands to confirm our motherboard model number.
Following the video instructions, I used my MacBook to download the BIOS file, manually renamed it as required, and proceeded with the BIOS update process according to the tutorial.
The following video teach one how to save the BIOS update file to USB stick via macOS properly:
