  • 3+ years of software development experience.
  • We build our services using JavaScript (TypeScript), Node.js and Python; you have professional experience with one or a combination of these.
  • Strong technical drive, proactive, self-management abilities, outstanding communication and cooperative attitude, great issue analysis and problem solution skills
  • Desirable: Experience in dealing with large time series datasets in a highly performant way on AWS or other PASS
  • Desirable: Experience with Serverless and data pipelines in a production environment.
  • **Desirable: **Participation in open source projects, as well as personal works and blogs (please provide examples, personal site address, GitHub account, etc.)

Duties & Team Spirit

  • Data engineering. Participate in the development of data engineering related services, and be responsible for its maintenance and operation. Ensure stored data is easily accessible to internal and external teams.
  • Manage production cycle. Collaborate with researchers, data scientists, product managers to build and maintain solutions that simplify and automate the difficult and time consuming data discovery, conversion, mapping, and job scheduling tasks in AWS.
  • Standardization. Translate product requirements into data engineering specifications. Develop and execute processes that validate the integrity of data.
  • Stay Ahead of the Curve. Research the latest tools and engineering practices and have a strong interest in learning and staying abreast of relevant technologies, trends, and industry standards.

The Company

Eon Labs Ltd is a privately owned technology company that has seen rapid business expansion since its 2017 inception. There is no involvement from venture capital, and the firm relies entirely on its own resources for funding its operations. Eon Labs are a digital finance and AI research firm founded in the beautiful British Columbia in Canada. Eon Labs provides fund management companies (e.g. Hoovest) in the digital currency space with artificial intelligence-driven financial trading market analysis, trading strategies and associated custom software systems. These tools are what the fund manager relies on to make investment choices, and in exchange, Eon Labs receives remuneration that is both fixed and performance-based. Among the 800+ funds listed on CryptoFundResearch, Eon Labs has helped some of them stand out as some of the greatest performers in 2021, i.e. Axon.Capital. You will join a remote work team of three senior engineers (based in China and Canada) with prior working experience at data-driven powerhouses like Salesforce Tableau, and the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC).

The challenge that is about to be presented to you is in no way a definitive test of your enthusiasm for technical work. However, it has the potential to become a proxy for your working style and the way you approach the resolution of problems. Please share any thoughts you have or figure it out the way you always have so that we may get a better sense how you approach a problem.

DESCRIPTION

As a data engineer, you are required to acquire and manipulate data.

Provide a script to collect Google Trends **weekly **data with the keyword ‘bitcoin’. Write as much actual program code as you can in any programming language (Node.js or Python is preferred). You are also welcomed to use pseudo code to illustrate how you want to tackle the challenge if you find it more illustrative of your capability.

Nevertheless, you must provide a README that includes but not limited to 1) describing your idea, 2) the amount of time you spent on finishing the program code (or pseudo code), 3) the different ways you have tried to approach the challenge, 4) the reasons of settling on the current approach, and finally, 5) how to execute your program.

You may use your preferred language (i.e. Chinese or English) to write the README.

HINTS

Hint 1: display the data in a way you find most convenient (i.e. print in console or save in csv/json file).

Hint 2: 3rd party library may be helpful.
